Introducing The New DAZCAT 1295 Sports Bridge Deck Cruising Catamaran
Dazcat’s latest design is under construction and due for launch next year.
At 42.5 feet (12.79m) in length and a length to waterline beam ratio of 13-1 but still weighing-in at under 5 tones, the new boat has really been optimised for performance racing and cruising.
Set to be the new ‘middle sister’ to the already successful Dazcats 1195 and 1495 designs, the new 1295 offers stylish speed and comfort. It also has a performance rating similar to its sisters to create close racing.
As standard the boat features a 17m carbon mast with main sail area of 62msq and a self-tacking jib with an area of 31msq. The combined sail area totals 93msq, giving a Bruce number of 1.3-1.45 (load dependent) and a MOCRA rating close to the 1495.
Internally the boat is very similar to the 1195 and uses the same deck and coach roof design, though the new hull has 150mm more freeboard, a slightly flatter rocker line aft and slightly sharper sections forward, as well as being 80cm longer. The engines have been moved under the raised galley sole to centralise the engine weight, increasing both performance and comfort of ride. The increase in freeboard means there is full 1.95m headroom in the forward heads and showers, and increased wet deck clearance to 750cm.
To reduce component weights the boat features all carbon parts including the beam, bulkheads, rudders, dagger boards, spinnaker pole, mast, bimini, steering wheels and davits. Engines are shaft driven Nanni 21hp motors with a pair of 100-liter fuel tanks giving approximately a 200m mile range. Spinnaker winches have been upsized from 40 top 46 along with the primary’s on the deck.
Deck gear is a mix of Harken blocks and winches, Antal sail track system and Lewmar hatches.
Internally there are three double cabins with a half-height central galley in the saloon, facing the navigation station. The saloon seating and table convert to a day bed or fourth double.
The electric flush head and shower are placed forward in the port hull, which is also where the black tank is fitted.
Electrical Systems feature a 100 amp hour lithium battery. The super B and node basted switch panel is displayed on a robust Murphy screen, which contributes to keeping system weights down.
Internal finishing is carefully hand-faired by skilled craftsme and is complemented with trims and linings of your choice.
Bimini and solar panels are optional.
All in all the new Dazcat 1295 looks to be a very exciting boat at a very competitive price, bearing in mind the high standard of construction personnel, equipment and specifications. The design of this boat has been developed using direct experience on both inshore and off shore MOCRA and RORC racing. In Dazcat designs’ opinion, applying the experience and research applied to racing boats across all designs also makes for a better cruising boat. All Dazcat boats, while built to take the severe punishment of racing, are combined with the signature design-philosophy of both comfort and great looks. Thanks to the quality of build and timeless good looks, Dazcats maintain exceptional resale value.
Each boat is uniquely built to the client’s requirements, and an integral part of the design process is that the owner works with the build team at Multimarine.
We are very much looking forward to seeing the first D1295 sailing next season’s racing circuit.
